House Decorating, Redneck Style.

I have finally, after 2 years, figured out how I want my house to look. I’ve struggled between contemporary and country chic. But-my freaking ingenious mind came up with a better solution-Redneck Style. First room- the kitchen. What do kitchens need? A place to hang cookware and if I can get the tail stiff enough, and I can find 3 additional, uh, unfortunate road-kills, I’d like to introduce to you, my squirrel cookware hanger:

Tune in next week when I introduce the possum coat-rack.

It’s amazing what one finds when doing image searches-I had a completely different story in mind, but found the squirrel. I didn’t kill it, so back off PETA.

Linky Love- Sunday Edition #1

Linky Love Sunday

Linky Love Sunday

As a way of saying thank you to those who have found my blog worthy enough to advertise on, via CMF Ads, of course, (because CMF members are the best), I have decided to begin a series of 2-3 posts a week, giving free linky love. Why? Because I have never found a social/blog promotion site which offers nothing but quality blogs-in every niche. (I have no niche for crying out loud!) In the future, I may open the linky love to non-CMF members, but a link back to me will be required.

To start, today I have selected the first 5 blogs who purchased ad space, (with credits), and who contacted me in time to list their sites. Quality blogs, folks- no spammy, half-arsed writing to be found.

  1. Nice 2 All-A MUST read if you own a self-hosted WordPress blog. Lyndi was the first person to take a chance and buy a spot and her blog was the first from CMF I added to my feed reader. From free WordPress themes, to tips and tricks to make your blogging experience more efficient, her site is one of the best resources I have come across.
  2. Canucklehead-Nuckie, as I will refer to him from this point forward, is Canadian. Don’t hold it against him, because this dude receives more traffic for Stumbled posts of naked chicks, (not really), than anyone I know. Humor is the key to his blog-and thank goodness I finally found someone who is as sick and twisted as myself when it comes to finding pictures of-well, odd in nature. If you want a good laugh- take a look at his blog. All you need is a case of beer and a few hours- browse the “Look” section-trust me, you’ll crack up.
  3. Photos From Red Pine Mountain-Feel like browsing gorgeous pictures taken from a 300 acre mountain-top farm? Look no further- horses, beautiful scenery, the “kids” (the doggies), Mountain Woman shared her view with all of us. I need to remind myself to buy a memory card for my video/digital camera so I can show her what mountains really are! Wonderful blog and again, another must “look” in my book.
  4. Life In The Short Lane-To start with, I adore the name of Margo’s blog and I’m slightly jealous that I didn’t think of it first. Such a great sense of humor in her writing style- plus, now get ready folks because I am totally joining her, she has started a “What I’m Not Buying This Weekend,” meme type thingie. I will confess- I am a shopping addict, when I have money. Now, I can save by not buying online. Margo- please help me with my handbag/purse obsession. An intervention-anything-oh and- I would “not” buy the yellow dress, if I had the boobs to fill it out. Go read her blog- great, writing style and hey- you could save money, too.
  5. Ken Armstrong Writing Stuff-Oh, Ken, what to say, what to say. I heart his blog-and him and we’ve never met, since he lives in, well Ireland, but I can heart him anyway. Such a great guy to joke with, (and he gets my sense of humor, at least most of the time, I hope), he pole dances and I fluff his pillows. I have a confession to make-he’s also the best writer/storyteller I have read since I began blogging. If you want to read a blog where the first sentence of the post grabs your attention- read his. I’m not saying this because I’m his fluffer of pillows, either. He truly has a tremendous gift.
  6. Top Ten Blog Tips-Last, but certainly not least, Ben, one of the co-founders of CMFAds.com and a developer. Not only does Ben know what he’s doing when it comes to running a social/blog promotion site, but he knows blogging as well. This guy will go above and beyond to help any blogger- and I’m not saying this to suck up- he takes blogging seriously. He welcomed me when I joined CMF, as he does every single blogger. Have a question? Ask. More importantly, read his blog. Need tips on blogging and how to get the most out of the experience? One of the best sources, without all the crap other bloggers write. I heart Ben as well, although, he doesn’t pole dance.

This concludes the first edition of Linky Love. The next post will be up Tuesday, or Wednesday. I encourage everyone to check out the blogs I have listed today. At a time when bloggers are more concerned with niches, receiving traffic, or making money, it’s very difficult to find those of us who know what blogging should be-sharing our lives, a few laughs and interacting with people from all over the world.

Susan Boyle-Living Her Dream.

Susan Boyle: Never Too Late To Dream Your Dream

Susan Boyle: Never Too Late To Dream Your Dream

In less than a week, the unassuming, 47 year old Scottish woman on the left, has managed to open the eyes of two continents, perhaps the world. If you’ve been under a rock, (I know, I’m late in mentioning it), please watch her performance on Britain’s Got Talent: Susan Boyle, I Dreamed A Dream, Les Miserables. (Embedding of all the videos have been disabled). Didn’t expect much of anything at first, right? But, I can bet, if you have any emotions at all, you were cheering along with the audience by the end.

I’ve written quite a bit about pursuing your dreams and if, after a certain age, it’s worth the hassle. Susan Boyle is an unemployed, single lady, who has a cat and, from what I’ve read and heard, was bullied as a child, because she was quiet, suffered through depression, and had even tried to audition for others in the past, but never given the chance. Who, in their right minds, would, or could never, give this woman a chance? And why? Because she isn’t what society deems as “star quality,” or attractive.

She proved everyone wrong.

Not just through her talent, but with the courage she had to walk on stage and take the chance. The video link on YouTube, at the time of this post, has almost 12 million views-and this is only one video. The world is watching. I know I’ll keep up to date via YouTube, since the US doesn’t broadcast Britain’s Got Talent, (not on BBC America!!!). It just goes to show, the most precious of gems can be found in the plainest of packages.

Maxine and Easter.

Before I post my annual Maxine Easter ‘toon, I would like to confess. My mother, being, well my mother, bought a chocolate/peanut butter egg for me yesterday. Yes, the Easter Bunny still visits me, even at the age of 36. Sue me. This isn’t the issue, though. What did I do with the 5000000000000 calorie egg? I ate the whole damn thing in one day. That’s right, in one day, I woofed down a chocolate/peanut butter egg that weighed, oh, I don’t know, 1/2 a pound? Not in one sitting- no, I nibbled on it until it was nothing but crumbs at the bottom of a box. I had nothing else to eat and drank a lot of water, but let me say this- I never want to see, or eat another one of the freakin’ things again. Ever. Happy Easter all- enjoy Maxine.
