The Google Smack-down and PayPerPost/Izea’s Responsibility To Its Bloggers.

By Beth | March 8, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

First things first, I’m back to blogging after a much needed week-long break. The job is going-sort of, they’ve had issues with software companies, getting my security settings-well, set and I worked a few hours here and there last week. Monday morning I shall be full-time, as promised and I am determined to do my best in order to be hired direct by the company, since the job I am doing pays $45,000 a year-if you’re a non-contract employee. I can accomplish this, I have no doubt.

catmiddlefinger.jpgThe second item I would like to address is the recent Google smack-down on my blog to a PR0. I have never denied the fact I write paid reviews and accept advertising. Google will not dictate how I manage my blog and considering, even after not blogging for a week, my page views only dropped slightly, it goes to show people are still coming to my blog for whatever it is they are searching for. What I am about to blog will cause a backlash on myself and my blog, but it needs to be said. Regarding PayPerPost/Izea, or whatever they are calling themselves this week. Read more »

By Beth | February 26, 2008

I’m posting this on my blog since I don’t keep everyone’s emails- thanks to Mr. Fabeo, I was invited to join a new social network for bloggers who, and I’m going to emphasize this, “think, create and publish.” The site doesn’t have many members and as bloggers we love to socialize. So join by clicking on the badge below.

How To Make Money: Post #1.

By Beth | February 24, 2008

womanatcomputer.gifGet a job.

No, really. This is the best way to make money. Just ask me, someone who knows. Too many blogs in the blogosphere try telling you how to make money online, how rich you’ll become, how easy it is and you’ll never have to work again. Guess who’s making the money? That’s right- it isn’t you, it’s the people loading your brain full of crap. You may hit it lucky and be able to make enough to pay for utilities once in a while, gas and maybe groceries, but you certainly can’t rely on the income. Unless you really hit it lucky and manage to con people into believing you know what you’re talking about-the so-called “experts,” or “authority” bloggers. What suddenly made these people, experts? They worked the system and they worked you-when I say worked you I mean they convinced you into believing, you, too could get rich online. How many of you can raise your hands and say you were able to quit your day jobs and blog full-time? That’s what I thought.

Writing sponsored/paid posts and advertising is one thing- telling people they’ll get rich by doing so is another.

Why Some Men Should Be Attracted To Cows-Literally.

By Beth | February 23, 2008

cowudders.jpgNo, I’m not doing a public service announcement for cows, or promoting John Cow’s blog. Just when I thought search phrases leading to my site couldn’t get more odd, I am now dealing with pingbacks from sex sites. Yes, I know my blog screams of sex and skank, (insert sarcasm here), but when I noticed a link pointing to the post, How To Prevent Middle-Age Saggage And Sort Of Be Sexy With A Bare-Nipples Bra, after logging in to WordPress, I had to click. Mistake. You know how it is when you pass a bad accident- you don’t want to look, but you feel compelled to do so? This is what occurred when the site I was redirected to popped up. And when I say, popped up, I mean well-keep reading.

Maybe I have lived a sheltered life. I do live in West Virginia, after all and we’re always the last to see anything new. I wasn’t aware, however, of the market for long nipples. See the cow udders? Yeah, those on a 500 pound animal? The women on the site are not unlike this animal-in fact they give an entirely new meaning to the word “perky.” After looking, and having that, “Oh my God what did these women do to their nips,” look on my face, I started thinking. Do men find this attractive? And for God’s sakes why? To me, they look as if they have two tiny penises attached to each breast. And how in the hell did they get that way? I keep getting images of clothespins and bungee straps floating through my head-which in turn makes me want to run to my closet and put on a sports bra to not only protect my girls, but flatten them. To the men of the world attracted to -to- well, whatever you want to call it, long-nippled women, I live in a semi-rural area. I know a few good cows-and they’re lonely. (Insert shiver here). And no, I’m not providing a link to the site-it’s bad enough that I had to look at it.

BlogAboutYourBlog.com: The Site For Advice On Blogging.

By Beth | February 23, 2008

Please note: This is not a sponsored post. I am writing a series of posts for several blogs from EntreCard.com because I firmly believe that we, as bloggers, should take a stand and help promote each other’s content, whether it be in the same niche, a less trafficked blog, or a non-A-Lister.

blogaboutyourblog.pngAs I sat here listening to R.E.Ms It’s The End Of The World As We Know It, preparing myself to write this post, I had a brain meltdown. I honestly cannot remember how I originally came across BlogAboutYourBlog.com because I’ve been reading the blog for a little over a year. Perhaps through one of the traffic exchanges, BlogMad or BlogExplosion, but, my aging mind seems to have forgotten. What I haven’t let slip my oh so fragile mind, is the quality content, not only for seasoned bloggers, but for those beginning the journey.

Although BlogAboutYourBlog.com has a list of contributers, the main blogger is Matthew H., (I’m listing the first initial of his last name because two Matts write for the site). Matthew and I have communicated several times throughout the time I’ve been reading the blog and let me put on record- he knows his stuff. Go to the site and take a look at the number of RSS subscribers and you’ll know I’m telling the truth-if only I could have that many! Reason being? Take a look at a post written a few months ago, 10 Quick Blogging Tips-a must read for those of you just starting out. Good, sound advice, short, sweet and to the point.

One of the main reasons I have kept BAYB in my feed reader- they, (the authors as a whole), aren’t afraid to dish out advice and opinions about what is going on in the blogosphere at any given time. Matthew wrote a post regarding the recent Terms Of Service changes from PayPerPost, allowing blogs into the system at 30 days instead of the 90 day requirement many had to abide by. Matt-we share the same views and you beat me to the punch with the post-but I have a theory and plan on expanding on your thoughts in an upcoming post here, (it’s in draft form).
If you’re new, or curious about blogging, or a veteran of the ups and downs, BlogAboutYourBlog.com is one of the best resources available. They don’t “toot their own horns,” as some bloggers do when it comes to being an authority in a niche and the blog encourages reading, linking to and commenting on the blogs of others. This is one blog to add to your bookmarks, or feeds.
