Blog Of The Week: The Red Stapler Chronicles.

The Red Stapler Chronicles

The Red Stapler Chronicles

Those of us who have worked in an office and have seen the movie Office Space, remember the quote by Milton, the disgruntled worker who, upset over the constant moving of his desk and the switch in staplers, “I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it’s not okay because if they take my stapler then I’ll set the building on fire.” Ok, I really doubt Kevin, the blogger behind The Red Stapler Chronicles would go that far, but he does provide interesting commentary from blogging, stupidity (there is never enough stupidity to go around) and making money online.

My personal favorite post, An Idiot’s Guide to Fix the Economy, lists 8 ways the US government could put a big dent in the current economic woes. Read the post, especially number 8-Kevin, I think if we’re to export Baywatch- we could out-right sell David Hasselhoff to Germany for 50 million. Add it to your list.

Not only is The Red Stapler Chronicles informative, but it’s entertaining as well. I enjoy wit, especially when it comes to serious subjects many find difficult to laugh at, such as the economy and the recession. His post, The 12 Days of Christmas During a Recession, was featured as the editor’s pick in the 180th Carnival of Personal Finance. Although he discusses how to make money online, the blog is not the typical in your face, I am an expert, you are not, read. Refreshing to see in a blogging world which has changed from sharing with readers, to telling readers what to, or, not to do on a plethora of topics. This is one blog you’ll add to your feed reader.

AFrogtokiss.net IS Do-Follow: But You Have To Earn It.

The New Face of Bloggers

The New Face of Bloggers

This blog has been do-follow since “do-follow” became almost mandatory in the blogging world. In fact, thanks to using do-follow and writing sponsored posts, (which I no longer do), my once PR5 blog, dropped to a PR0. I gave, other bloggers and sites took. I once actively participated in commenting and interacting on blogs I enjoyed: until everyone who owned a blog began calling themselves experts. On every topic, from SEO, (Search Engine Optimization), to marketing. No more.

I have never claimed to be an expert in anything. I started this blog 5 years ago out of boredom-it soon progressed into connecting with others around the world and allowed me to hone writing skills I thought I had lost. Blogging was fun-simple. I shared stories from my life-not telling people how to blog, or what to write, just for the sake of gaining back-links, or popularity in social networking and search engines. I’m lucky-although my blog is small compared to most, and even with a PR0, I received 14,246 page views last month. 13,118 of which were unique. Not bad for a blog about nothing.

I am changing how I do-follow. I’ve received grief from several so-called do-follow experts for using the Lucia’s Linky Love plugin, one blogger saying, “I don’t consider a blog using this plugin as “do-follow.” I beg to differ. While new bloggers are allowing spam sites and “marketers” to fill the comment fields with irrelevant content, hence, in my opinion, ruining the entire concept of blogging, including, active, intelligent participation-on topic, those who comment on my blog will now have to earn the right by commenting 3 times, before your author link becomes do-follow. No more free advertising for your dental practice, flower shop, or link to a favorite post. Interaction is the key. If you want visitors, participate. Engage with blogs and bloggers. Stop over saturating the blogosphere with marketing and “pay me $29.95 and I’ll show you how to…whatever.” Blog because you have something to give, not because you want to take.

Please Update The Feed Address For This Site Because Google Is Taking Over The Free World.

I loathe Google. I really do. Although I use their services, it’s more out of necessity, than desire. I was unaware they were changing the Feedburner service-migrating to Google’s little space on the Internet and my feed was moved. I lost 100 subscribers in 1 day. So, please, if you subscribe to my feed, click to the right and update. I had to change the URL because, well, as I’ve said in the past, Google sucks.

Missing Posts- Database Errors With WordPress

If you notice, several posts are missing. I have had issues with my MySql database and had to restore to the last good backup, which was October 30. I apologize for any inconvenience. So, while I have been blogging, the code in the database was preventing posts from migrating to the site.

A few tips-since I am assuming the blog was either hacked, or, my host made changes without notifying me, always change your password, secure your WordPress config file and admin files. You have NO idea how furious I am at the moment. As soon as I do a little more “clean up” on the database, new posts will commence.

In the meanwhile, if you want to guest-post, feel free to drop me a line.
