Stress, Maxine Thursday And I’ll Return Tomorrow.

No, I haven’t posted in a couple of days. Life happens, even mine and I really haven’t had the time to perform my duties as a blogger. To those of you from EntreCard who have paid me in credits to write about your blog- I will commence doing so in the morning.

The money issues have me uptight and slightly stressed, since I found out I won’t be getting paid until March 15, and not March 10 as I was first told. I wasn’t aware the check would be mailed from Missouri so I have to wait several days for it to arrive. I’ll survive-thank God for pennies.

In the meantime, here is Maxine, and her take on stress. Enjoy.

How To Save Battery Life With An iPod Touch.

ipodtouch.jpgSince winning an iPod Touch in a contest a few months back, it has been one gadget I couldn’t live without. Ok, if it was an iPhone, I’d be even happier, but by Jailbreaking version 1.1.2, I did get a few of the missing features the Touch should have had-like mail, weather etc. (If anyone knows of a safe way to Jailbreak 1.1.3, let me know-there seems to be controversy over how well it works, not to mention Steve Jobs’ announcement of charging people $19.99 for upgraded features back in January). Other than my complaint on the lack of features, the major issue has been battery life. Through trial and error, I determined how to conserve battery life-which most would think, “wait until the battery has drained and charge fully, or keep it turned off when not in use.” Wrong. Sure, this works with cell phones, but the Touch is a little different.

One day I turned the Touch on, after not using it for approximately 3 days, and found the battery was in the red. I had charged it 3 days prior, while syncing a few email addresses and songs. I promptly plugged the USB cable into the port, left it alone for 8 hours, and sure enough, fully charged. I listened to a few songs, turned if off and the next day turned it on again. The battery was below half-life. What was causing this? Some USB ports are not powerful enough to handle the charge power the Touch needs, but I knew this wasn’t the case for me. (I do recommend buying a dock if you can-this is on my list of things to buy when I get money-it would be so much easier-be forewarned though, the Touch may need a special doo-hickey-yes a technical term, to fit in some docks because of size differences). This is what I did in order to save battery life-in fact it has lasted 5 days with the battery indicator barely moving.

1. Turn off Wi-Fi. Unless you’re using the email app, or downloading songs from iTunes, the Wi-Fi feature will drain the battery faster. Even though my router is in the same room, the little Touch has to work extra hard for some reason to keep the wireless signal.

2. Charge the battery but keep the Touch on while doing so. When I had charged the battery in the past, I would turn it off, which is what most do- don’t. Trust me on this.

3. Once the battery is fully charged, go to Settings > General > Auto-lock and set it for no more than 3 minutes. I have mine set at 2 minutes. Auto-lock is like sleep mode on a PC-it conserves battery life without turning the device off.

4. Leave the Touch on. Yes, you read that right. Leave it on and let Auto-lock save the battery life. I’ve figured out by turning the Touch off and back on uses more battery power than it should. Try it for yourself. Let the battery go down to the halfway mark, turn it off and leave it off for a few hours. Turn the Touch back on and yes, you’ll see an almost fully charged device. Play a few songs or leave it on for 30 minutes and watch the battery meter go even lower.

I’m waiting for the battery to hit the half-way mark on mine before charging again, before I charge to full capacity. As I said, after 5 days the indicator has barely moved and I listen to music and use Safari quite a bit. If you’ve experienced the constant battery drain on the Touch, try these tips and they should work-they did for me.

EntreCard Credits For Sale-Unlimited Supply.

***UPDATE***

I’ve lowered the price to $5. I need the money. Buy. Now.

eclogo.jpgYeah, I jumped in a little late on the bandwagon, but since I have so many, I need to cash in because mama has utility bills to pay. If you’ll look on my sidebar, don’t worry you don’t have to scroll far, you’ll see the PayPal widget. I’m selling 500 credits at a time for $7. I know the graphic says $7.50 but I wasn’t aware I couldn’t add cents to the price. I think this is a very fair price and at the moment, you’ll receive the credits once I receive notification of payment. I do indicate in the description, this will change after March 3, the wait time could be 4-10 hours depending upon when you purchase, due to the fact of starting a new job. I’m offering one of the lowest prices for credits and I do deliver. Plus, I have bills to pay too. You know you want the credits-you’re addicted, like the rest of us-so buy, buy, buy!

lisareviews.jpgHow many times have we thought about buying, or using a product, or service, but had reservations as to whether we should spend the time and money? Fear no more, my fellow bloggers. Lisa, from LisaReviews.com may have a review for the product, or service you’re considering.

As a stay at home mom, Lisa blogs about products ranging from kid’s goodies to technology. She gives her honest opinion-which is helpful since most sites just promote the product being sold. Her post on Ikea Products made me wish I had an Ikea store near me- I think the closest is 50 miles away! She purchased a bookcase and a computer desk-and I wish she would have mentioned how difficult they were to put together. I’ve heard several people say Ikea products are impossible, and others say they’re a breeze to assemble. So, Lisa? How hard was it to put the desk together? I need one!

If you’re a mom, (or dad), she has great reviews on kid’s stuff, toys books, etc. She reads a lot of books to her little girl, therefore she has quite a few kid’s book reviews. One I found, about the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, reminded me of when I was a little one and forced my mother to read books over and over again, even though I knew them by heart. And hey, she says this is a good book for everyone to read, I may just have to buy it-I love kid’s books, even those about the alphabet.

I always encourage bloggers who stop by here to check out the blogs I post on. I don’t believe in criticizing a blog since we all have our own voices when it comes to what interests us. Subscribe to the feed, comment where appropriate and get involved. Lisa’s blog is one to keep an eye on, especially if you enjoy reviews and learning what products are worth it, and those that are not. She also takes products/services review requests.
