Thanks For Proving My Point, Sam Freedom.
I have no problem with criticism, in fact I welcome it, because it not only improves my blog to suit my tastes, but my readers’ as well. Most of you who visit from EntreCard.com know I am completely against “chain dropping,” because I feel it negates the entire reason for using the service-to find new blogs and network.
I recently posted the Drop Your Card Meme, With A Twist. No one seemed to have an issue with the fact I did not link back to the “originator” of the meme, due to my dislike of the way in which he encourages chain dropping and, in my opinion, outright rude behavior towards other bloggers. He proved my point with two comments.
Hey, glad you found the meme. Even if your skin is thinner a frog’s, it’s nice to know that something I created has been able to benefit both you, those you’ve tagged, those who’ve tagged you and those who will continue to be tagged. I guess you didn’t really think about that and would prefer to praise someone who merely copied and pasted a bunch of links into a viral link farm campaign without any thought or consideration for those whose links and brand images were in them.
But it’s nice that you see the benefit in this and whether or not you show me any “love” in return or even allow this comment to go through, we both know that you got some real bonafide connectivity/social benefit from it.
The only regret that I have is that you stole the role of Grinch from this ongoing play. I really like that part but, for me, it’s just a role – with you, it seems to fit like a shoe.
Happy deleting!
Sam
First off, Sam, I have never and will never leave a comment on another blog insulting the owner, or the readers. You claim, so often, you want to be successful and you’re doing all of this for the good of the system, yet think long-term. People will tire of your selfish attitude and realize- you aren’t doing anything to benefit others- it’s all to benefit yourself. I have not once seen your card in my Inbox on EntreCard- so cry about the fact that me, one blogger, did not link back to your blog. I gave my reader’s a choice to read the original post in which I was tagged- it is their decision to choose who to link to. This is my blog. I pay for the domain, I write the posts. It’s my discretion on whom I link to. Whining over one blog who didn’t link to your blog-then commenting on that blog is a bit childish, don’t you think? Your “observations” of me being a grinch and not having tough skin only proves again, you have never taken time to read my blog and get to know me as a blogger. If anyone has tough skin- it’s me. Remember, I didn’t go to your blog and insult or complain in the comments.
ps. though you won’t quite comprehend this, I’ll say it for the passers-by – that if you re-post something someone created and you don’t follow the instructions for the rights to reprint and benefit from it then you’re not only a criminal… but also a scumbag.
It’s ok, honey, hope springs eternal. And if you can’t handle life in the blogosphere then you should switch off soon because your tiny complaint is nothing compared to the REAL issues you haven’t even run into yet.
Happy deleting!
Sam
I’m not quite sure why you felt the need to leave 2 comments. I am now a criminal and a scumbag because I didn’t link to your blog. It’s a meme, Sam, not a piece of literature I misquoted in a term paper. If I could count the number of times someone didn’t link back to me for a meme or contest I started, I’d be rich and wouldn’t be blogging. I’d be sitting on a sandy beach holding a drink with an umbrella stinking out. Oh and trust me- I’m not the only one who has complained about your “efforts” to reach blog stardom. I’ve been blogging for over 5 years and I will always be an advocate for the “little guy.” Not one blog is any better or deserves more traffic/readers than another. We are a different breed, bloggers. For whatever reasons we initially chose to begin the journey into the blogosphere, we all have one thing in common: A voice. Take the time to read newer blogs, or more established blogs. Hopefully, you’ll come to the realization you are not the only blogger in the world.
**Update**
Amazingly enough, Sam did drop his card here-the first time ever. Congrats, Sam, you earned one credit.

Dear Beth, I am glad to see you don’t let your frustration build to the point where it becomes unhealthy. I just pray no one has to put up with that lovely aspect of you in real life even if it would make a divorce lawyer cream his pants.
I shudder at the thought that any of your readers would believe anything you’ve said about me just because they relate to you in other areas. Liking someone does not make them honest or accurate and, quite often, blinds us to the truth of the matter.
So let’s see, which of your mistruths shall I untangle first…?
1. Not dropping a card at your site: ok, and that’s part of the criteria for you not only behaving like a lunatic but also copyrighting me? There are 1000s of cards and I benefit the community by dropping on SOME, not all of them – and by creating helpful MEMES and CONTESTS and driving more advertisers in to see your site and drop cards on you.
Some gratitude you have there…
And it seems copyright violators hang out in packs. GS copied the whole Entrecard All Cards page and now you are copying AND BENEFITTING from MY meme. Go for it, girl! I can rectify that but, at least for now, I’m letting people know that you justify using someone else’s ideas WORD FOR WORD to benefit yourself.
My meme introduced all kinds of people to one another, invited them to say something nice about one another and, as anyone can see, many are benefitting. But if you don’t want to follow the instructions that convey the rights to benefit from it, then don’t use it.
It’s your blog but it was my meme. Because you are not successful, you don’t see that it is a form of copyright infringement. And, on a legal level, neither I, nor anyone else reading this, could give a care… but ethically speaking, it does make you a scumbag.
Don’t link to my site fine… but don’t use my meme either. It’s traveling around quite well right now and would have found all those you tagged eventually anyways. All you did was invite everyone else to unwittingly commit the same crime and ethical transgression as you.
I hope the kinds of people who would rush to your defense in this matter – those who don’t see you as a big girl who is not only capable of fighting her own battles but clearly seems to have a taste for it – I hope they realize that you started this.
I created a fun meme to benefit all Entrecarders. I stepped in to chide the reckless behavior of someone copying 1000 Entrecarders URLs into a viral link farm and you… you my darling… are a petty scumbag.
And whoever blindly defends you in this matter based on their bleeding heart, and not on the facts or your petty crime deserve what they get.
I will blog about you tonight… in the way that has made my blog so famous.
Sam
Sam you take blogging beyond the limits it should be taken. You’ve managed to write 3 paragraphs of comments which have been nothing but pointless, whiny banter. I’m also refunding the money you paid for a link in the TopSpots. Sure, I like to monetize my blog, but I won’t support those who find it necessary to belittle others, only to make themselves feel big.
***update***
I dropped my card to show a level of maturity you can’t yet appreciate. I certainly wasn’t that desperate for 1 credit when I have over 12,000 of them staring me in the face right now.
If you want your $10 back, Sam, I’ll need your PayPal ID. Scratchback does not provide refunds and I have deleted your link. As soon as you provide me with the PayPal address you’ll receive your $10.
Sam you take blogging beyond the limits it should be taken.
Thanks, next time don’t copy someone else’s idea word for word if you don’t want to attribute them. I don’t mind those who do it innocently but you did it spitefully… tsk tsk…
You’ve managed to write 3 paragraphs of comments which have been nothing but pointless, whiny banter.
That’s the quality of thinking I would expect from someone showing up at a “global warming” or “secure borders” rally. The “3″ paragraphs were about your benefitting from something without proper attribution.
If you want to continue justifying that, go ahead, the blogosphere is huge and you will continue to have your band of merry followers… but at least now its clear what you are.
I’m also refunding the money you paid for a link in the TopSpots. Sure, I like to monetize my blog, but I won’t support those who find it necessary to belittle others, only to make themselves feel big.
That’s ok… I expected you would. I only did it for the screenshot. As for belittling you? Never happened – I belittled your behavior. Where others would write you off, I took the time to let you know that your spiteful refusal to properly attribute something from which you derived good benefit makes you a scumbag.
That is not belittling – that is based on how you are and what you did because of it.
Best wishes on future copyright infringements,
Sam
Beth, interesting take and no you are not the first one that has come under fire from Sam. He loves to spend his time belittling a lot of people. Weird thing is some people want to follow him. I would just ignore the attacks.

Thanks for all the ruckus. I’m sure this will bring quite a few readers to both of our blogs. As far as copyright infringements? Take your toys and go home. It’s a blog meme. The meme has been changed numerous times because that’s how memes work. I’ll use your $10 in a future contest-one that benefits a blogger who could really use the help.
1) It is impossible to copyright a page which only collects information. You don’t copyright the search results of Google, you copyright the brand and the search algorithm.
2) You have the right to link to whomever you want to, no matter what anyone else says.
3) Sam Freedom is getting pissy over a MEME. Massive lulz ensue.

Is Sam paying you to blog about him? Because it sure looks like it. All you are doing is helping him become more popular. His blog is about Controversy, and you are creating more for him. Wake up! lol.
(Hi Sam!
)
Whatever benefits Sam, benefits me as well. He started the school yard tiff, I just took advantage of the situation. And he thought he could pay me, but I’ll be giving the $10 he used to purchase a link, away in a contest soon.
If I win, I will use it to advertise on your site Beth
Well, let’s hope you win, then
You Rock – my love of your blog just increased tenfold – no make that a hundredfold.

Makes a note to myself: Remember why I hate memes. *snickers* Sure is a lot of fuss over a meme.
mikster’s last blog post..Deserving?
I think calling Beth a scumbag for using ‘your’ meme is a bit harsh, Sam.
First – she did refer to you, and every reader knew exactly who she was referring to which in my opinion was probably better for you than actually throwing the link in the post. I say this because it allows you to get into this exact frucus, which is what you seem to thrive on.
Your meme is circulating very nicely and I’m sure you’re not too worried about 1 blogger choosing to refer to you as ‘that guy’ as she posts the meme on her blog. In fact I’m sure it gave you a hard on when you saw it.
The name calling is a bit much though.
The problem that I personally have with you Sam – and please don’t take this personally, because I think you’re a smart guy – is that you seem to thrive on CREATING the controversy – not simply pointing it out.
Yes, Beth used ‘your’ meme without linking to you – so maybe she ’started’ it. But you instantly fanned the flames with the comments you left and the name calling and then obviously purchasing the link (for a screenshot) which I’m sure you’ll get lots of laughs about ‘how clever you are’ when you use it for whatever you plan on using it for.
Anyways – congrats on the successful meme – it’s not only built up your links like it was supposed to do, but also allowed you another avenue to create more internet/blogging drama/controversy.

There is no plagiarism because credit was dully given.
And from what I’ve read of Sam on this blog and those utterly bullshit comments in the forums I’ve re-revised my opinion of him.
P.S.
Bull because obviously he played the loathsome sexist because of recent events. If it weren’t for the below the belt tantrum thrown in our community I’d not even comment on this. But it was. That’s just sad.
Sam is really nasty. I wonder where he got it from?
Sam must need some real problems.

Sam is an insecure little troll of a man who who’s only “shtick” is to try and anger others by way of insult, belittlement and repetitive use of the words “copyright” and “link farm”.
He thinks that no one realizes that it’s all a big marketing strategy – which is why his blog will continue to excell in mediocrity.

Since there are so many positive comments I’ll write one to thank all of you for your input and support. I usually try to respond to each person, but in this situation, eh, it’s Sam- who cares about him
The one I do have to LOL at is Jason- be careful, you’ll probably be getting tainted candy from him for Valentine’s Day. Again, thank you all.
Candy? I hope not. I’m holding out for some sexy lingerie. He knows my size…

I made the mistake of mentioning Sam in one of my posts right after I joined Entrecard. Sam seems to think of himself as some kind of Mob Boss of the blogsphere who wants to protect any of his turf that he thinks other are stepping on-which he seems to believe encompasses the entire internet.
He left long winded comments and veiled threats on my blog as well. This seems to be the cornerstone of his blogging plan-act like a nut and get people to talk about it.
I still like entrecard, but it could use some tweaking here and there.
