For Any DIY’er, EzDIYElectricity.com Offers Advice At The Flip Of A Switch.

ezdiyelectricity.jpgHow many of you watch Do It Yourself shows on television? How many of you have watched these shows hoping to actually learn how to do something, only to see bits and pieces of the process with no real instruction? Exactly-most of the shows are for entertainment purposes only, leaving you to do the research yourself, or to give up completely because of the lack of guided information.

For those of you who use EntreCard.com I know you’re well aware of Ez DIY Electricity- Residential Wiring Projects Made Easy, because Wayne, the owner and Master Electrician has one of the top sites. Non-bloggers-listen, or should I say, read up, this site is full of very helpful do-it-yourself home electrical information even I have read and yes, understood. His guides and information are well written and to the point without all the fluff you read in most do-it-yourself books. Sure, you’re asking yourself, “Can I really wire this lamp by reading, or consulting with someone who lives across the country?” Absolutely.

The most important page on the site is the Electrical Wiring Project Checklist, which covers the basics such as planning the project, if you’ll be digging and what to do before beginning, permits you may need in your area, the directions/instructions associated with the project and most of all-safety precautions. Anyone even considering the smallest electrical project needs to read and understand what they are getting into before beginning.

The only issue I have with the site- the categories need to be higher up on the page. Since people are always looking for a specific topic, the categories of your blog should be in a prominent space for easier navigation. Yes, people can view the archives and perhaps search, but as I’ve found even with my own blog, you don’t always get the results you’re looking for. Maybe a separate page with the categories would work for Wayne’s blog.

Oh- he is also having a contest, Complete Your Next DIY Electrical Wiring Project with Help from a Master Electrician for Free-that’s right folks for free. To enter the contest, you need to subscribe to his blog and post your project in the comments section on the contest page. Simple as that- and considering rates for consultation alone are $125 an hour-this is one contest that would really pay off. Visit EzDIYElectricity.com, subscribe to not only his feed, but receive email updates as well. This is one site for your bookmarks.

mikster! haven’t seen you since my BlogMad days. His blog is really nice- even I read it and hey, I’m a chick and wiring isn’t supposed to catch my attention. But he presents everything in such a way even a moron like me could understand. As long as I’m not standing in water while holding a lamp that’s plugged in to an outlet.
