Win 100 Credits For EntreCard.com
To thank all of you who have accepted my blog and for dropping cards, I have decided to run a small contest. A very simple contest. Write a post telling everyone how EntreCard has helped you find new blogs, increased your traffic and has been an overall fun site. To submit, comment, or send a trackback with the URL of the post by Saturday, December 15th, 6pm Eastern Time, (US).I will assign all entries a number and use Random.org to choose the winner to make it fair to everyone who enters the contest. The winning blogger will then be sent 100 EntreCard credits from yours truly.
I encourage everyone to participate, if not in this contest, but on EntreCard, by visiting blogs, commenting and advertising. When you read a blog-don’t just drop your card and run- read a few posts and if you have anything to contribute, comment. Visit the blog which is advertising on any particular blog as well and do the same. This is what blogging is about-it isn’t about yourself and how many hits you receive a day, it’s about interacting with your readers and appreciating the time it takes to read a post-even if a comment isn’t made. For the niche blogs-expand your readership and reading by allowing blogs outside of your normal topics to advertise. Unless the blog contains content you highly disagree with, don’t reject. The one aspect I have found surprising since starting with the site, smaller blogs have higher rejection rates against other bloggers than the more notable, such as John Chow, John Cow and Tyler Cruz. EntreCard will work for you, if you work for EntreCard. Most of us have complained about not receiving enough traffic, or readers-now is our chance. Expand your blog and the blogs you typically read. You never know, you may find one you enjoy. Also, John Chow is gracing my sidebar today until noon. Visit his site, contribute if you have something relevant to say,(do NOT comment with “hi,nice blog,” very rude), and drop a card. And enter the contest!

good point beth. a lot of people that come from entrecard just drop their card and leave. i like that entrecard brings traffic to my blog, but it’s not worthwhile traffic. people should at least take the time to read a post or two. grow as a community. i have a question for you. how did you keep your PR when you do paid posting?
bloggernoob’s last blog post..Why you should leave blogger
True- most of the traffic is not worthwhile, although I have had a few more comments from bloggers I’ve met through EntreCard. And I didn’t keep my PR- I was a PR5 and dropped to a PR3. I’m waiting and hoping I don’t go down to 0.
yup I agree with you too, but you cannot force or make your reader to contribute, unless he or she is willing to.
So we must try to capture their attention by keep posting quality content rather than complaining

Well stated!!! If you are trying to form a community with your blog, well then you have to be social to some extent. Please don’t go to a blog drop a card and leave within 2 seconds. I just joined entrecard and receive 32 referrals yesterday with an average time on site of 1.33 sec. This is not a horrible average, but it could be better.
As far as the smaller blogs rejecting a ton of advertisers goes, this could be because initially new users get bombarded with advertisers because it only cost 2 credits to advertise. While the more established bloggers’ blogs cost around 70-150 credits. Therefore, they have a lower rejection rate b/c there are less advertisers attempting to advertise with them. Just a thought.
Thanks again for writing this blog someone needed to say it.
I’ll add another 100 credits to the purse. Whoever wins will also get 100 credits from me. You cool with that Beth?

Beth,
Good article. I wrote a post similar to this one entitled “Entrecard: The Good and the Bad” (http://www.learnhow2earn.com/2007/12/06/entrecard-the-good-and-the-bad/)
where I give my 2 cents on Entrecard. I think it’s nice for traffic generation, but that’s about it. What’d you all think?

I’m cool with it m*! So let’s make it 200 Credits- and for those who do submit posts-visit the other blogs who submit as well!
Great! 200 credits to the winner.

I JUST joined entrecard yesterday (after reading about it on Tyler Cruz’s blog), and I agree that most people will use this service to click and run. And I have also already been guilty of doing so.
However, I agree that if you click on the ads and actually take a look at the sites you are going to, you might find a new favorite blog… or at least a new not-hated blog!
I haven’t had much time to see how much (if any) good entrecard will do to my traffic, but it seems promising. I also think that it may be a good idea, once you are established, to try to advertise on blogs that DO coincide with your blog’s interests and readerhip’s interest. In this way, you’ll probably get a better stickiness than 1.xx seconds.
Know your audience, but also widen your horizons!
Namaste,
A. Caleb

lankapo: I don’t consider this “forcing” people to comment. In fact I said, if they had anything to contribute then by all means, comment. I also don’t consider any of my post as complaining. It’s a way to get an active community here and on other blogs. Which is what blogging should be. In fact, read my blog. I cover a lot of topics and have regular readers- readers are what all bloggers want in the long run and by running a contest I’m helping others as well. I could have said, “Comment and win 100 credits,” but no, I want other bloggers to get involved and for blogging to go back to the social aspect it once was.
SAM: Your numbers will go up-but more from EntreCard itself than from other blogs. This is why I am encouraging people to not only drop cards but to click the featured blog as well. That’s the entire point. To be selfish as a blogger, for me is rude. Share your opinions, your readers, with others and we all benefit. And as for the smaller blogs rejecting so many- the credits are probably a factor. But when you’re rejected by a blog that has auto-music set, a horrible template, but decent writing, and then John Cow accepts your ad- you have to wonder.
m*: I’ll change it on the forums- it’s now 200 credits to the winner! Thank you! And I got your email so I’ll see if I can change the title in the comments section
Andrew: EntreCard works well for quick hits- and you’ll start to notice this in your stats. As for finding new blogs-I’ve found so many I would probably have never come across had it not been for EntreCard. Also, sticking to a “niche” once you’re established, this blog is far from a niche blog. It’s under humor because a majority of my posts revolve around humorous stories, but I also discuss technology, making money etc. So it’s a little more difficult for some to “find their niche.”
hehe beth,
chill out..:)
u even reject my bid to advertise here hee
sorry if u fell offended or sumething
fren ok..
lankapo: I haven’t rejected any bids. It’s in my stats on EntreCard. I was chilling- I was just explaining the reason for the contest, which, isn’t getting much publicity since people are now offering 1000s of credits.

The longer you use entrecard, the more you want to explore other people’s site as time passes instead of just dropping a card. Just give it time I guess.
