Is John Chow Really The Evil Dot Com Mogul He Claims?
In the past I have stated I didn’t agree with how John Chow handled his blog, by bragging about how much money he makes, talking people into donating money, or paying for reviews, (people as in, normal, every day bloggers), but perhaps I spoke, (or blogged), in haste.
Since joining EntreCard I have seen a side of him I never expected: For one, that he even bothered to sign up at the site at all, and two, requesting advertising space on less popular blogs in the realm of the blogosphere. A few days ago I checked email and saw I had an advertisement request. I logged in and lo and behold- it was John Chow. He’s been going to some of the more popular cards on EntreCard and he chose me. Little ol’ me. The chick with no particular niche, struggling in life and in blogging, wanting more than anything to become successful in something. A majority of our blogs will never see the traffic and following as his- and I’m sure he won’t see thousands of clicks from my blog to his, (although I urge you, as readers to click on any blog advertising, I have found some amazing blogs), yet he took the time to look at my blog and either liked it, or thought, “Holy hell this chick is nuts, maybe I’ll cheer her up by advertising for free.” Either way, I’m honored. He didn’t have to choose my blog or any of the others. Yes, I know he could be doing all of this for research purposes, but even so, he’s been on quite a few of our “low level” blogs when he really had no obligation. So maybe he isn’t the Evil Dot Com Mogul he claims to be-maybe, like the rest of us, he realizes the importance of community when it comes to blogging, keeping readers, gaining readers and enjoyment of sharing information-even with non A-Listers.
His card is set to be shown December 11 and I encourage everyone to visit. Visit all of the cards showing on my blog daily. Read, comment, interact. As bloggers we’re a unique group, dedicated to our passion for the sharing of information and the camaraderie we have with each other.

I think a truer test would be if he accepted a card from you.
I’m getting the impression from some of the upper-echelon bloggers that only other important people will be allowed to show their cards on that oh so important blog, whereas they are happy to throw their cards around wherever they might get exposure.
I’m not accusing John, or anyone in particular, of exhibiting this behavior, and you might be very right.
Personally, I accept every card.. or have so far. I like the whole round-robin clicking frenzy Entrecard seems to inspire.
You need to write a blog about writing a blog about making money writing a blog about a blog that makes money.
The blogosphere is weird. Although there are lots of cool, weird things to read about. Entrecard is a pretty fun way to float around a bit. Kind of addicting.
Free-Me: I purchased space on both John COW and Tyler Cruz- neither rejected me. Now, John Cow did have some kind of issue where he had to reject a bunch of cards but he left a note saying submit again, which I did and he accepted. I haven’t tried John Chow because his spots are always full and the price is always more than what I have in credits. The way I’ve gone about it-visit the blog, drop a card, read through posts and comment. Not just once but when I drop a card and when they comment here. I’ve found new blogs this way and hopefully, they’ve found me. I WISH people would get this about EntreCard-it isn’t all about placing your 125×125 badge on someone’s blog- it’s about interacting as bloggers.
Sean: Yeah if I wrote a blog like that I’d need more Xanax. And yes, I’ve found EntreCard to be kind of addicting as well.
I quite agree with the whole interaction, but I recon JC chose you because you were one of the most popular “Humour” blogs out there. I hasn’t filtered down to little ol’ me yet
Rhys: I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not. I came across a blog who had dropped a card on mine-and John Chow was on his EntreCard space. I had yet to see this blog, and it isn’t very popular. I’m not sure what he’s looking for in a blog. Look at mine- virtually no niche, I talk about anything and everything and I am by no means popular. The only reason I’ve gotten to the level I have on EntreCard is because I jumped in as soon as I read about it and at that time not many bloggers were in the system. And I’ve dropped a heck of a lot of cards-more than has been dropped on me and commented on almost every single blog. That’s the only thing I can come up with that’s made a difference. He’ll find you- you’re one of the most popular too. I hate the fact it’s turning into this huge popularity contest because I want to see it work as a REAL social network. Not a high school clique.
Haha. I always turn things into a popularity contest. It’s because I’m inadequate
By the way, I only want him to advertise just so I can refuse him
Rhys: lol I think we’re all competitive as bloggers- and why deny him? lol
I dont want to reject anyone , even though my percentages showed that I did.
I guess if you rank high , a lower card… uh … anyway.
