G4 Network’s Ninja Warrior.
When flipping through channels late at night, I would always come across the show on G4 Network called Ninja Warrior, or as it’s called in Japan, Sasuke. I thought it was just another silly Japanese game show, until I started watching it about 3 weeks ago. I am now hooked. Between 10pm and 11pm- don’t bother me, I’m watching idiots attempt to make it through the most ridiculous obstacle course ever. The Wikipedia article I linked to gives detailed information about the show and how it works, but it basically consists of athletes, (and non-athletes), competing against each other for the title of Ninja Warrior.
The challenge begins with the first stage of 100 contestants going through a physically challenging course of rope climbing, log rolling, jumping-you would have to watch it to understand. Think school-yard field day on speed. From the first 100 contestants, only a few make it to the 2nd round and so on until the final round, each becoming more difficult. I haven’t a clue as to why I enjoy the show, for instance tonight they had the “world’s strongest transsexual”-ok I think I just answered my own question. If you get a chance, watch it- you’ll either crack up or be choosing who you want to win.
I just watched a couple vids on the G4 site – pretty good stuff. You ever seen MXC on I think it’s Spike? The commentating is hilarious on that one.
I haven’t watched Spike in a long time. Too many manly shows. Ninja Warrior just cracks me up because some of those people take it so seriously. I miss the good ol’ days of the original Japanese Iron Chef. The food looked horrible but I loved watching and listening to the commentary.
Thanks for getting me hooked on this damn show. Too funny.
