Attention All Bloggers: I Need Your Assistance With Quitting Smoking.
Well, everyone has wanted a picture of me for a few years and here it is-me sitting outside on the stoop this morning smoking a long, smelly cigar. No, this really isn’t me, but it will be in a few years if I don’t stop smoking now. I started when I was 17, for pure spite really, no other reason and, like all smokers I regret picking up the habit. When I first started, I thought it was fun and I actually enjoyed the taste. I was 17 for God’s sakes what did I know? The strange thing, I had always nagged my parents for smoking and I ended up doing the same.
It’s to the point where I can’t stand the smell of stale cigarette smoke- I think this is where my candle obsession comes from- I have to have a candle lit at all times except when I’m asleep or out of the house. It helps cut down on the smell, but we all know cigarette smoke permeates everything. I have used Glade Plugins, Fabreeze, Oust-nothing works. I really am obsessed with how my house smells because every person who visits, even my own mother, I’ll ask, “Can you smell cigarette smoke?” Well, duh Beth, yes because you smoke. I don’t know what I spend more money on-cigs or candles from the dollar store. I know a few people who have quit cold turkey and I am not going to put myself through that. Sure, 5 Xanax a day for 2 weeks would probably lessen the withdrawals, but who are we kidding. The only method I know for a fact that works, because three people I know used them, are the Commit Lozenges. I took the little quiz on their website and since I smoke my first cig 30 minutes after waking up, I need the 4mg dose. This is what the site says:
To improve your chances of success, use at least nine CommitŪ Lozenges per day during the first six weeks. Do not use more than five lozenges in six hours. Do not use more than 20 lozenges per day.
Stop using CommitŪ at the end of 12 weeks. If you still feel the need to use nicotine lozenges, talk to your doctor.
Sam’s Club has them for $72 but I’m not sure how many are in a box and I found them on Walgreen’s site- 4mg, 108 in a box for $57.99 with free shipping. If anyone is feeling generous this holiday season, buy them and I’ll pay for you to ship them to me. You will also be allowed to harass the heck out of me and call me every hour to make sure I’m not smoking. Trust me, you’ll know when I haven’t smoked, I won’t be hacking up a lung.

Good luck with that. I quit every day – seriously – I wake up every morning and say today is the day. I’ll just smoke this one last ceremonial ciggie and then be done with them. Hah! I hate it that nicotine has such a firm hold on me. I hate the smell, I hate the taste, I hate the messiness and most of all I hate that it makes me feel like I’m not in control of my own life. I believe that I will eventually quit, but it doesn’t look like today is the day.
lol I’ve had the ceremonial cig and an hour later followed up with the “I swear this is the last one ever.” I really don’t like smoking but I do it anyway-they say quitting smoking is harder than coming off heroine- now that’s scary. I know the people who’ve quit with the Commit Lozenges say they really did help tremendously- so maybe you could try those too? They’re expensive, but then think about how much we pay for cigarettes-even more.
