Considering I have blogs in not only my feed reader, but bookmarked as well, I have decided to give my readers a peek into the blogs I read often, find interesting, or provide good information for bloggers of all types. Some blogs you may have seen before, others may be he new kids on the block. I am not being paid to do this, nor am I asking for payment. No link back to my blog is required, although if you want to, that’s perfectly ok with me. I am providing a blog a day because the blogosphere is full of so many good blogs who may not receive the recognition they deserve. The Blog A Day is not a review in any way- just snippets of information about the blog and blog owner. I won’t bash, judge or otherwise “hate” on the blog I choose. I hope those of you who visit the blogs I list would show the same courtesy. Since it’s almost 2am I am heading to bed, so the first Blog Of The Day will be posted later in the day.
I Don’t Need No Stinking Grammar.
I will admit I’m not the world’s grammar expert, but I do try and when I read, or hear the incorrect usage of a word, I cringe. When it comes to punctuation, in my blog I’m a little less rigid with the rules, do mostly to the fact I write in a more conversational style. My biggest pet peeve when it comes to incorrect usage of a word? When someone makes the statement, “I seen her at the store yesterday.” No, it is not, “I seen,” it is “I saw.”
Grammar In The Blogging World
Correct grammar can gain blog readership and show those reading you do have a grasp on whatever subject you are writing. Incorrect grammar may leave readers asking, “Does this person really know what he, or she, is saying?” In other words, grammar can make or break a blog.
The English language is one of the most difficult languages to master. Even those of us who are native English writers and speakers, forget the rules since so many exist. We search the web, or other resources just to make sure we are using a word in its correct context, or, if we’re putting a comma, or semi-colon in the right position. WhiteSmoke.com offers software that can take the daunting task of English editing and proofreading and turn it into a learning experience. Whether English is your native language, or second language, White Smoke, using advanced technologies, will detect the tricky rules we’ve come to hate and provide the end user with accurate usage of not only words, but punctuation, spelling, and advanced rules pertaining to adverbs and adjectives.
Although at times a majority of us could care less about the proper usage of the English language, doing so can have a huge impact on your blog and your daily life.
Maxine On Halloween #2.
Only a day left until the ghosts and goblins come knocking on your door basically begging for candy and egging your house if you don’t open the door. This year I am actually being nice- I bought a few bags and I’m hoping a few of the kids here in the neighborhood stop by. If not, I’ll use the candy in a contest here on this blog. Because believe it or not, just because I’m a voluptuous woman- I don’t eat candy. Maxine, though, has the right idea about the kind of candy to give out- I’d probably get arrested.

Discount Dental Plans Can Help Lessen The Burden.
I used to have perfect teeth. Although they were never white, they were straight and I was fortunate enough to not require braces. As I got older, though, and my wisdom teeth started coming in, my mouth became so crowded it was difficult to keep the back teeth clean which lead to problems that came to a head several years ago.
Before my dad passed away, I had great dental insurance-all cleanings were covered for free and any actual work that needed completed was very inexpensive. Then, after her passed away and we lost the insurance, my dentist began to skimp on the work my teeth needed. The lack of insurance, as I found out later, was the reason.
Dental Insurance often does not cover all dental work-specialty work which may be needed, not so low discounts on regular cleanings, x-rays and preventative care is almost non-existent, and in some cases these options are added on to the normal insurance fees to the insurance plan itself. For those of us with no dental insurance, discount dental plans may be one option to research.
I went to DentalPlans.com and compared the prices of plans available in my area. The most expensive plan, (please keep in mind, these plans are not insurance, but discount programs), has a membership fee of $139.95 per year for an individual, this breaks down to almost $12 a month and includes not only dental care, but vision, chiropractic, prescription and other benefits, with no deductibles or other restrictions that most dental insurance plans add on to the costs. All one has to do is type in his or her zip code, plans in the area are listed as well as the providers who accept the plan. In my area alone-and I live in a smaller city, over 50 dentists participate. I wish I had known of this time of discount plan several years ago- it would have not only saved money, but the pain and aggravation of unnecessary dental work.
