When I logged into WordPress one day last week I noticed an incoming link I didn’t recognize. Being the curious sort that I am, I investigated and to my surprise, I found I had been nominated for the blogger to most likely live in a trailer park. I’d like to thank whomever nominated me, simply because it means this person actually reads my blog. Viewing the “voting”, if you want to call it that, in the comments on this person’s blog, I will now state reason #1 as to why blogging is no longer fun.
The “In” Bloggers
It isn’t a huge secret that you’re either in or out when it comes to the blogosphere. A person can have the worst writing, the most boring posts and be hateful to the readers who aren’t in the crowd and still be “popular”. If you don’t associate with certain bloggers you’re automatically looked over. For example, read a few of the comments which are supposedly one way of “voting” for the blogger you think deserves the award. Quite a few say, “Sorry, don’t know the blogger,” or, “never heard of these people.” Aren’t contests meant to open the doors to new blogs to read? Or, am I right when I say it’s one huge popularity contest after another? If anyone actually wanted to vote and get it right, I should have at least one-why? Because I really do live in a trailer park. However, some find it too difficult to actually go to the blog and read a little. Maybe they’re afraid. Heaven forbid if they stray from their group.
I haven’t been visiting blogs as often lately due to the fact I’ve been busy. I’ve moved, changed jobs twice and blogging hasn’t been at the top of my list. Once I’m settled, yes I will regroup and go back to my commenting and reading the blogs I enjoy-and hopefully find new blogs as well. I feel as if I’m in a blogging fog- same ol’ crap, different day.
Please do not forget I am participating in the 2007 Blogathon this coming Saturday. I will be staying up 24 hours blogging in order to raise money for the American Heart Association. I would love to have someone, or more, to match my donation of $25. It’s simple, all you do is click this link: Sponsor Me or click on the cute graphic on the sidebar.
I didn’t participate last year, however I have decided, almost at the last minute, that I will attempt the madness. For those of you who are not familiar with Blogathon, it’s the blogger’s version of a dance-a-thon, only everyone wins. All proceeds from the sponsorships we receive go to the charity of our choice. I have chosen the American Heart Association in memory of my dad, who passed away from a massive heart attack when I was 15. I will be able to make the donation in honor of him and at the same time giving a small amount to a charity I believe in. You can either click on this link to sponsor me or, the Blogathon button on my sidebar. And come back on July 28th, 6am Pacific time, (9am Eastern time), to see my progress and keep me awake. I may even add a temporary chat room to keep myself busy between posts. So, sponsor me!
I am so glad I am not the only one who has noticed the rudeness of the “associates” at Wal-Mart. After reading her post, People Can Be Foul, I knew Crissy Kight of DearCrissy.com had a blog I needed to investigate further. Lo and behold- she once worked at Wally World. How did you survive, girl? I know the Wal-Mart here is full of inbreds who can’t count to 10, much less help someone when they need it- and you certainly don’t appear to be an inbred. For starters, you have a blog and, well, it’s a well-known fact inbreds can’t type. Plus you went to college. Inbreds can’t spell college. No, no, I’m not making fun of her- I seriously don’t know how someone could work there and survive. Then, after reading her “about” section- I knew why. She lives just across the river from West Virginia-in Chillicothe, Ohio, (the first person to leave a comment with the correct way to pronounce the city will receive a dollar from me via PayPal), and I am convinced a little bit of West Virginia has rubbed off on her. She has a blog with a nice collection of personal stories, her artwork and her cat, whose name is Mewson-brilliant name for a cat by the way. If you haven’t had a chance to read her blog-do so, and leave her a comment or two.
