Your Dream Car-For Free.

mercedesscreenshot1.jpg  Okay, not the car itself, but a screensaver and desktop wallpaper of the car you can only dream of buying. Dream of owning a Mercedes? Then you can download not only Mercedes’ wallpapers, (like the one seen to the left, which is a screenshot of my own desktop), but a screensaver with a digital clock as well. Have your dream car, without paying a dime.

What Site Offers Free Downloads As Well As Used Car Information?

VCars.co.uk, based in the UK, is a group of 50 manufacturer specific websites, which offer assistance in finding used cars in your area if you live within the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, since I don’t live in the country, I cannot look up prices in order to compare specific dealers and cars for this review. I can, however, show you the features available.

Interactive Search By County

county.jpgThis feature is one I would like to see on dealerships sites here in the US. The screenshot to the left shows counties within the UK. By simply hovering over the map with the mouse, you can click the county you want for the search.

Upon doing so, another interactive map appears, showing qualified used car dealers in the chosen area.

Motoring News And More

VCars.co.uk also offers a section dedicated to motoring news, a good source for those of you interested in Formula One racing, auto trends and major news regarding the top manufacturers in the world. The news section is broken down into categories, from Alfa Romeo to Chevrolet. You can subscribe to the feed, (and as of this post, the feed has over 1300 subscribers-the site’s archives only go back to January, 2007, so these are excellent numbers for such a new site), or receive email updates. If you’re a car enthusiast, Vcars.co.uk is a site to visit, utilize their services, keep up to date and download a few free items as well.

Full Moon For June 30 Explained.

fullmoon.jpgToday, June 30th will be the one full moon of 2007 that will hang lower in the sky than any other. A friend of mine sent a link explaining what is known as the “Moon Illusion.” Although cameras cannot pick up the unusually large size of the moon, the human eye can. The reason for this illusion is due to the fact that the moon is lower to the horizon, therefore giving us the impression the moon is larger. Scientists cannot explain why, although there are some theories. So tomorrow night at sunset, step outside and look to the east-what will you see?

Why No One Notices.

I have figured it out. I never get responses on any idea I have-luckily Loq did say he would participate. As of 12:34am I had 67 people subscribed to my feed. Over 200 people have set me as a favorite on Technorati. No, not nearly the amount some have received, but then again, I’m not in the blog clique. You know the ones-they comment only on each other’s blogs and heaven forbid if someone attempts to step into their territory. The once good blogs, which have now turned into a lot of filler posts with no substance. At least I try to provide useful information. At least I try to make someone laugh. Maybe I’m tired of this whole blogging thing. If you aren’t one of them you’re considered a nobody even if your blog has high rankings. And to think, I don’t manipulate any service to increase my rank. I was in the Technorati Top 1000 before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. I now find myself slowly falling. To lesser blogs who work the system. Blogging won’t last forever. Then what will you do?

Link-Building, Readership Building Idea.

Although it’s going to be another week before I get back to blogging on a more regular schedule, I want to give everyone something to ponder over the weekend. We all want backlinks and readers, right? We enjoy visiting each other’s blogs, but how many of us click the links in the blogrolls? At least on a consistent basis. I have an idea.

A Little Background Information, First

We all like to see our blogs mentioned on other blogs-it’s confirmation that someone is reading. But it also does two other things: Provides backlinks and potential new readers. Two of the most important aspects of blogging, even more so if you are monetizing your blog. Backlinks moves you up in rankings, readership allows more people to interact on your blog, therefore more traffic. Both, in the long run, will assist you in making more money with your blog. Sometimes we may need something to write about because we’re at a loss for ideas.

What’s The “Big Idea,” Beth?

Simple really. In fact we probably do it once in a while, some more than others. We give a little linky love to someone we know or read on a regular basis. Or, if we find a post we particularly enjoy. Why not do this on a weekly basis? So, I am proclaiming every Friday, “Feature Friday.” The way it works: Choose a blog you don’t read often. Read it. I don’t mean skim the front page of posts, look through the archives, categories, etc., and find a post you like. Then, write a post featuring the blog and blogger, 100 words or less. You may use as many links to the blog as you like, but I find keeping it to three links acceptable. You then comment on the author’s latest post, letting them know they have been featured. Then, the featured blogger does the same, chooses a blog they don’t read often yadda yadda yadda. Get the idea? Sort of a chain reaction of links, although you aren’t just listing links on your site. Everyone benefits because everyone will eventually receive backlinks and more readers. If this works and yes I know I have a track record of my ideas not working, I will form a blogroll of sorts, which will provide even more backlinks. I’d like your input, tell me what you think of the idea, how it can be improved and if you would participate.
