How To Stay Cool When Your Air Conditioning Isn’t Working.

Going into week 2 of no air has my nerves on edge, to say the least. 90+ degree heat, sleeping on a rock hard mattress in the basement and living with one’s mother isn’t my idea of a fun time. I did begin working for the newspaper part-time, so I get out of the house several hours a day. If anyone wants to donate so I can move out of here fast- please do. In the meanwhile, here a list of ways I’m managing to stay cool.

1. Nakedness. This option isn’t used unless I’m home alone, but believe me, no clothing=freedom. Be sure to keep a t-shirt and pair of shorts close in case of an unexpected knock at the door.
2. 4 showers a day. The water bill will be outrageous this month, but hey, nakedness+being wet=cool. Get your minds out of the gutter.
3. Fans. Lots of fans. I have 3 running downstairs alone. So add nakedness+wetness+fans=almost as good as an orgasm.
4. Air-conditioned car. I’ve been driving around just to feel the air. No, I’m not driving naked and wet, although at this moment that doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
5. Motel room. I’m considering spending some cash on a cheap motel room. Sure, there might be pubic hair in the tub, but the room is air conditioned.

Anyone have additional suggestions?

I Have Such A Fertile Family.

Let’s get one thing straight now. No, I am not with child. Yes, I park in the Stork Parking at Wal Mart late at night, but hey, I’m fat and I have yet to see any pregnant women out at 3am. I actually have 2 cousins who, any day now, will be popping out a wee one. One cousin already has 3 little girls and is having her first little boy, the other cousin is having her first child and we think it’s a little girl.

I’m not the decorating type. I’m horrible at choosing the right baby shower supplies and even worse at buying gifts. How many of you have ever been put in the situation of planning an entire baby shower- and not having a clue of what the mother wants, what her tastes are, and worst of all, the shower is a surprise? One site I found, PartyPail.com, offers a large variety of supplies, such as cups, plates, decorations- the works. For example, the picture below is from the Mod Mom Collection and as you can see, when I say a large variety- I mean it. The prices are very reasonable and although the collection is for 8, you can customize for as many as you need. So, if you’re like me and you aren’t the best person to ask to decorate for a shower and you need supplies, check out PartyPail.com. They also offer Bridal Shower supplies- I’m still waiting for a man to marry. Too bad they don’t stock those.

What I Want To Be When I Grow Up. Part Deux.

I know many of you have noticed I took several days off from blogging. With the holiday weekend, I thought it was a good time to collect my thoughts and take care of a few personal issues I’ve been putting off. Did I accomplish anything? Only time will tell.

To be honest, I have been thinking about my future for a while. Struggling to make ends meet is not how I want to spend the rest of my life. What will I do to solve this issue? Go back to school. Finish what I should have years ago. I have also determined one important thing- I don’t want to sit at a desk having an over-paid, balding, fat man yell at me because some document isn’t formatted correctly. I want something more. A job that takes guts, stamina and a heart. I’ve decided to go back and get my RN degree.

My family will most likely roll their eyes at my decision. “You can’t handle seeing blood,” they’ll say. “What about the blood, the guts, the unpleasant stench of bodily fluids?” My answer- no one goes into the health-care field loving any of that. Hopefully, a person becomes a doctor, a nurse, because they feel the need to help others and make a difference. And this is exactly what I want to do.

My biggest obstacle is money. I recently went through the school loan consolidation process and although I don’t owe a large sum, compared to others, I will still be paying for the next 20 years. I have also researched options in regards to school loans and have found a few specifically for the nursing field since there is such a shortage. I would like to be able to obtain a large enough loan to help me with financial needs while going through school, since I want to go full-time to finish faster, meaning part-time work. Is this feasible?

I don’t have the support from my family. In fact, my mother said, “Are you sure you’ll stick with it?” I told her this, “I’m 34 years old. If I don’t do this now I will never finish my degree and regret it for the rest of my life.” Do I go forward even without the support?

The Male Version Of Maxine.

I received this cartoon a few days ago and it cracked me up. Will men never learn? Come on guys- you’ll never be superior to us.
