The Bestest Blog of All-Time Carnival: Embarrassing Moments.
Well, since today is my birthday, it seems appropriate that I host my first blog carnival. I was honored to be invited by The Bestest Blog Of All-Time to host this little shin-dig. Keep in mind my busy schedule the last month and it’s been a lot of work keeping up with all the submissions, but I have enjoyed reading every single post. Yes-I read every post, which is the entire point of a blog carnival. When you’re finished reading the post- check out other posts on the blogs- I have found many I will continue to read beyond today.
I, myself, do have an embarrassing moment. In fact, I have quite a few since embarrassment seems to be my middle name, next to trouble. Back when I was working for AT&T, it happened. I had to walk a little over a block from where I parked, near several high-profile law offices and other snooty company buildings. It was summer and I had on a pair of cute shorts, black shirt, purse on my shoulder, carrying a Mountain Dew in one hand. Then it happened. I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk, skidded about a foot, Mountain Dew flying into the middle of the street, contents of my purse scattered everywhere. A guy in a business suit was walking behind me-and luckily he was very helpful. He actually walked into the busy street to recover my Mt. Dew and helped me find the contents of my purse. I thanked him and walked across to enter my building, knee bleeding, hands scuffed, to find out everyone on the first floor watched the entire episode. I had completely forgotten about people being able to see out of the lower windows-and those outside could not see in. When I walked in I received a round of applause. Since AT&T was so strict on when you logged in on the phones, I had to take calls while trying to bandage my knee in order to stop the bleeding. So much for the help of co-workers. Now, on to the other blogs who submitted embarrassing stories/moments, (listed in the order in which they were received):
Bobbarama (bobbarama.com) posts about being locked out of the house-been there Bob-done the locking myself out of the car as well. Sanni (Cofee2go) has a lingerie moment in front of 400 people. This has never happened to me-but it did to my aunt. Girl- you have guts! Belle (Devilish Southern Belle)- holy crap I laughed at this because it reminded me of something I would do- adult books and your father-in my case my mother and adult toys-I mean- what can you say? nelsonnium (Musings Of A Med Student) lists 20 Reasons Why People Shouldn’t Drink Too Much-read number 13- I know more women like this than men. Janna (One More Raindrop In A Bloggy Ocean), been there, done it, plastic and ovens don’t mix-neither do bits of foil and microwaves. (Janna also made the banner for this carnival-many thanks to her!)-Barb (Skittles’ Place)-talks about the salesman-this post also reminded me of sticking my own foot in my mouth-cracked me up. Roger, (Rogers Bla Bla) has given me a knew way to pick up men- going all natural at the local pool hall. muffin53 (muffin53) posted something I totally dig- a redneck slideshow-I know people like this! No, really I do. Starrlight, (Here Comes A Storm In The Form Of A Girl), posts about how your mind works when you’re sick-that’s the problem. I take so much Nyquil, mine doesn’t work. Jessie, (Hunna’s Happenings), wants to dig a hole in her yard after spilling her guts and then some-you’re not a fool, I’ve done it, we’ve all done it-maybe you could try the going natural thing at your local pool hall like me. Peanut, (Peanut, Peanut Butter…. Jelly!2), ponders if a phrase I used as a kid is still as bad as it once was. Yes, yes it is. But it still cracks me up. And I’m 34. Oh Tisha- (Crazy Working Mom), your moment reminds me of something that happened to me in junior high, only much worse-keeping it zipped isn’t always as easy as it sounds. Evel-(And another thing…), your post revolves around a topic I have actually asked people in the past- what is on your lips isn’t always ketchup and lip gloss. Jamieson, (I Am The Hunter)-holy mother- what is wrong with people? I mean come on- your post about “we didn’t ask” just proves most people are rude- next time I suggest spitting in their direction. Mimi, (Mimi Writes), posts about a topic that happened to me the other evening. Your account of getting lost is much funnier than mine. Next time just do what I did- get back on the interstate and start all over again. Omigosh- a post about one of my favorite lines from a Seinfeld episode- Dr. Blogstein (Dr. Blogstein), is out there and loving every minute of it-ok, maybe not every minute of it- I think you should research wearing larger slacks-this might solve some of the problems. Woozie, (The Tome of Communism), posts about the shot heard ’round the living room-I know one person who has managed to do this, but he was drunk at the time and wasn’t wearing his glasses. Abigail, (Just Another Quick Question), girl- I felt for you through the entire post. Going over the top of the stall is a hell of a lot harder than me sliding my fat butt under one. Heather from (Beautiful British Columbia), discusses something we’ve all experienced, being a kid and making mistakes-and being laughed at-devastating at the time, but funny as you grow older. Jeff, from (Jeff’s Jetsam) posts about what not to say in Spanish-good thing it wasn’t a curse word. Maggie, (Ramblings of Maggie), discusses her most embarrassing moment. Secret Simon, (The Secret of Life), posts something not quite on topic, but cute and powerful at the same time. Daniel, (Lutes, Viols and Other Ancient Instruments posts about the Sarrusophone-and you’re right, I’ve never heard of it. Christopher, (Death By Children), gives a father’s account of his lack of girl knowledge-you aren’t the only father out there who has gone through something similar, just ask my ex-boyfriend.
There you have it folks- the most embarrassing moments of quite a few bloggers. If I missed someones post- Please, please let me know and I will add it. I’ve never hosted a carnival before and I found this quite fun-reading new blogs and getting to know a few bloggers. Remember- the purpose is to read the post, then check out the rest of the blog- you’ll enjoy it!
Mark your calendars as well, the next carnival will be held over at Cathy’s Rants and Ramblin’s on February 14th, (Valentine’s Day!), which of course means the theme is Valentine’s Day. The Submission Deadline is 11:59pm on Saturday, Feb. 10th -so get those Valentine’s Day posts ready!
Food For Thought
With numerous web site hosting options available today, not a lot of people really know what to look for in web page hosting. Thanks to lately popularity of search engine optimization, at least people know the concept of an seo website today. Eventually they will realize the importance of reseller hosting or the fact that services offering cpc are preferred over others. Same holds true for features like pay per click.

Nice job! Okay, I’m off now to start reading – might have to sit here all night
Thanks…
Hi – Just wanted to respond to your comment that my post – which was basically a link to a photo of a tabby cat chasing a bear up a tree! – wasn’t quite on topic. I can understand why you would say that so I thought I’d let you know that what was going through my mind was how *embarrassing* it must have been for the bear. All my positively minded readers seem to be identifying more with the ‘can do’ attitude of the cat, hence the confusion! I’ll email Bobby and suggest that he adds a comment box to his carnival submission form so that there’s a chance to explain this sort of thing. Thanks for all your hard work!
Looks like I’ll be busy reading for a while!
Well, looks like I’ll be here a while. Looks like lots of good stuff … and I can’t wait to check out all the blogs I’ve never visited. Thanks for including me!!
Looks amazing Beth! Thanks so much! And Simon…thanks for the suggestion, I’ll have to look into that. Enjoy everyone, I know I will!
Great job Beth!!!! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Hey, Happy Birthday to you!
Did you get my text yesterday? And if so, were you able to do as I asked? LOL
Thank you so much for hosting. : )
I have a lot of reading up to do!!
Graet Job.
Oh, you poor thing! I’ve done the tripping thing so much in my life, though, that it doesn’t even phase me anymore (or those that know me).
I can’t believe AT&T wouldn’t even let you bandage your knee first! I guess it’s a good thing the knight in the crisp business suit stopped to help, huh?
Oh, I couldn’t leave a comment earlier, but now it seems to be working.
Great Job Beth and Happy Birthday! I have also linked to you…It looks like I have alot of reading to do, on this very cold snowy Saturday, here in Ohio.
Thanks for the link for the next carnival!
Thanks for hosting the carnival! Great story. I think we’ve all splattered on a pavement somewhere at some time and can relate, but what great co-workers, huh?
What a super job you’ve done, Beth. Thanks for all your hard work. I can’t wait to read all the entries. Now….take a long hot bubble bath and relax!
Mimi
Happy Birthday to you – Happy Birthday to youuuuu =)

Happy Birthday and thanks for hosting a great carnival!
Thanks for the birthday wishes and I’m glad everyone enjoyed the carnival! I did for sure!
Nice, Good Job
Hey, I locked my keys in the car at a gas station at 2am with, of course, freshly bought porn laying out in the front passenger seat in plain view. People got to watch me break a small side window to get in, because there was no way I was going to let anyone else see what was up. Sad thing was, it wasn’t even that good porn. $85 side window, too. Thank gawd for the internet!
Graveh: Ya know, with satellite, you do get payperview porn. Stick with that.
Well, this was back around 93-94. I was alone in a new state, starting a new career, and one lonely guy! If only there had been pay per view porn back then, but I’d probably have forearms the size of Popeye, though…
