Movie Review: The Wedding Crashers
I was a little skeptical when I began watching this movie. I thought great, another film with potty humor, guy chases woman, gets beat up, loses woman, finds woman. Ok, well, this is basically the movie, but it works. One of the best comedies I have seen in a long, long time. Yes the men (and women I might add) behave as pigs but what ensues is funny stuff. Vince Vaughn plays Jeremy Gray, who in the end finds a woman who matches him perfectly. Owen Wilson, playing John Beckwith does a good job-although I’m not a huge fan of his-and I don’t quite see him as the “leading man” type, he makes it work for the movie. Of course, Christopher Walken as the father-he’s always good in these roles, scary as hell to look at but a pussycat. Rachel McAdams is a Jennifer Garner look-alike, from dimples to mannerisms. Will Ferrell makes an uncredited appearance at the end-playing the part of Chazz well. The funniest character? It’s a toss-up between the grandmother (played by Ellen Albertini Dow) or Jane Seymour as the mother. And neither have many lines-it’s just what they say and do that is so hilarious. If you think your family is dysfunctional-meet the Cleary’s. I give it 4/5 stars.
